Hi guys - i am moving out for the first time on saturday and very nervous!
is there a way of fidning the chepest electricity supplier - we have no gas - storage heaters and an emerssion heater. The electricity is on some kind of tarrif called something 7 (maybe e7?) and is cheaper when used at night
i have tried price comparisons but its based on the fact that we have a provider already - can anyone help me with opinions please?
thanks guys

There is no such thing as the cheapest provider - it all depends on your annual consumption (and where you live)
When you move into the property on Saturday, read the meter and provide that reading to the existing supplier. They will be your existing provider. It'll take at least 4 weeks to switch supplier.
Of course, if you don't know what your annual consumption will be, then the results you get from any comparison site will be pretty meaningless."Now to trolling as a concept. .... ok then - will there already be a provider do you think?0

Unless the previous occupants were cut off -yes. Is it possible to speak them? I'd try to ask them about gas, electric, bin collection recycling etc. I leave a note when I move out with that sort of information on but lots of people don't have time! One life.0

Unfortunatley not everyone is that nice to leave notes, and letting agents aren't always much help (our last experience of letting, we took insurance out through the letting agency, went to cancel it when we left and the letting agent had never passed it on, they had cashed our check but kept the money, so we were never insured).
Have you found out if the electric etc is all connected or anything? Take a note of electric reading, conatct water company. If you don't know which electric company it is, you could wait, take the meter reading and wait to see who sends the bill.
Basically don't trust or expect the letting agency to help! So long as a tenant is in and they are getting the rent thats all that matters to them.0 -

Almost certainly.
Even with brand new properties, builders often sign up a supplier to kick things off ... and get a meter installed.
The existence of a meter is also a good sign (but not absolute proof)
If you can't find out the existing supplier from the previous owner or occupier, or even the landlord, then try here:

I wouldn't have thought Jermain Defoe had to worry about the size of his electricity bill on his wages-unless...there are two of you?No free lunch, and no free laptop0
