in Credit cards
Hi, just a quick question. Our 0% deal finishes on 23rd Nov. Statement date is 22nd. with payment due date 13th Dec. To avoid interest charges do I need to clear the balance by 23rd Nov or will I have until payment due date.
Tried phoning customer services but did not get a straight answer (India call centre:mad:)
Money is currently in mortgage offset so would like to keep it there as long as pos.
Thanks

You need to clear it by the 23rd November.
Personally I'd ensure I had a zero balance on the 22nd when the statement was produced.
How are you clearing it? If by online banking have you made your £1 test payment yet to check the timing/conduit?
Try 0800 997996 next time. It's free and, in my experience, gets you put through to Chester.0 -
Thanks for that. . I thought that would be the case. Payments go through same day as made through online banking I will probably pay it off on 21st to be on the safe side.
& thanks for the phone no. I hate overseas call centres.0 -
21 November is a Saturday so the payment will not be made until the next working day which is Monday 23rd. In my experience with M & S mastercard, you can make the payment from your bank (e.g. HSBC) and it will say the payment will be credited to the beneficiary's account within 2 hours. However it does not always show on the M & S statement on the same date.
To avoid any doubt I would personally make the payment directly by debit card to your M & S account by accessing the M & S site on Wednesday 18 November. It will not necessarily show on your bank account for 2 - 3 days (tends to vary) but that way you should definately be at nil balance by date that 0 % offer ends. (The other thing is that internet access to sites is not always 100% for various reasons).0
