auntie ebay

do not use ebay, they should rename it to ripoffbay.
Go to google and type in interim justicia and you will see pages of stories from UK sellers who have been fraudulently charged by ebay and their lapdogs ij, they dont deserve capitals.
As a seller anyone looking to post items should try ebid at
http://uk.ebid.net/
They are free to sell, and only charge a small fee if you have a picture in the gallery and the auction sells or if you use other items, a fraction at the price ebay charge.
The problem ebid does have is that people do not know about them, spread the word.
P+P prices are realistic, not the £2 for posting a single game card.
I dont blame sellers for this it is the only way to recoup the rip off costs placed on them.
Customer service is non existant with ripoffbay but ebid actually send you a personal email about your problem, not computer generated.
I had fees charged by accident on ebid for some of my auctions, noticed and emailed them, within 24 hours they had replied, asked for more info and fully refunded the auction fees, ebay would more likly give you blood from a stone than a refund.

The trouble is that ebid get's hardly any hits so a sucessful sale is far more unlikely. And, as you've stated above, they can't even get the fees right.
An objective discussion may be helpful here, not one fuelled by rumour and unjustified hostility.
    Can I help?

Personally whilst I do find that ebay's fees tend to mount up quickly at leats by charging fees it keeps the pages and pages of rubbish from being listed. If you were around to remember the old Freeserve auctions it was almost impossible to sell anything on there as all the good items were lost among pages and pages of items that sellers put up on the off chance that someone would buy them.

Also, just ask a lot of big sellers who don't even bother listing on ebay cheap listing days due to the amount of 'off chance' listings that go up on those days.

Ebid has been around for a while and has never really lived up to its earlier promise. Several regulars on here joined them last year and I can't recall any coming back with stories of massive success.

Whilst ebay and paypal fees are high it does seem at the moment that if you want to sell anything then you have to pay them.

In a similar vein to the NIauction thread on here recently if their only USP is the fact they are free it just won't cut the mustard. I'd rather pay the ebay/paypal fees and my items sell for good money than list for free on other less popular sites and receive no bids or sell for pennies.

I much prefer to use eBay over ebid or any other auction sites. I want my items to sell, not to remain unsold. By putting them on eBay there are so many potential buyers that can/will view the auction. I'd prefer to pay eBay fees anyday than list on a site where my auctions would get very few hits.
