Travel Insurance For Lapland?

Hi,
Can someone please help me and advise the best company to get a quote for travel insurance for Lapland.I have looked at a few insurers and opted for the winter sports or ski insurance but I need cover for
  • Huskey Sledding
  • Reindeer Sledding
  • Skidooing
Any help gratefully received.

  • Hi ya,

Can I ask who you are going with? We went for 3 days and got our insurance from the post office. If its the sort of trip that we did with children then you really wont need anything special. The skidoo rides are slow and very organised, you just drive in a line, someone at the front and back of the line, they dont let you go fast or wherever you want to go, they stick to a route and it's not for more than 10 minutes at most.

The reindeer sledding involves sitting and being taken about by reindeer, again very slow, you sit in a sledge type thing, covered with lots of blankets and away you go.
The Huskey sledding is the same, you just sit in a sledge and they take you round and round in circles on a set route.
If your trip is a more adventurous type minus children then you maybe need something more but again, the Post Office has insurance for risky winter sports. The Lapland trip isnt really that so the normal insurance should be fine.
Sorry, Ive gone on and on and couldnt really answer your question!
It's just that I worried about that when we went and I neednt have.
Whatever happens you will have a great time! Be prepared for VERY early starts and I mean up at like 6am to go skidooing on frozen lakes LOL
    Have fun!

  • Hi,
Thanks for the reply.Unfortunately its my sister that is going with my 6 year old nephew not me.
Not sure who she has booked with, will have to check.
  • Ok well we went with Canterbury Travel and as she's going with a 6 year old it sounds like it will be similar to what we did. She could also ask the tour operator because they do their own insurance too and that covers all of that but really and truly it is so safe, I wanted to do a lot more than they let and Im nervous about things like that so it shows how safe it all is LOL
They will have a great time.

We went for a day, did huskeys and riendeers and just bought post office policy too. I went with a friend who is a travel agent and she said the post office policy was fine for what we needed
Cherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.

yes they are safe rides but accidents can happen even at the safest of places so please do ensure that you have insurance that does cover you for such activities, also make sure you have the european health card (the old E111)

I have an annual insurance that does cover me for the activities you noted above, I got it through travelsupermarket under the wintersports section, some state that they include or exclude such activities
