I think some sort of monitor would work in-so-much as it would make you more aware, and you'd get into the habit of turning off lights and not filling kettles too much.
Something to actually cut consumption seems to good to be true, a bit like the things you screw under the car bonnet and get an extra 10 mpg.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

TY Zax. Ideally I want the owl by our front door so my wife can see the cost of our bill rising everytime she leaves every upstairs light on. Will it work for this?>!
Maybe! Bear in mind that, if a unit of electricty (1kWh) costs you an average of 15p then a 100W light bulb will have to be on for 10 hours to cost you 15p!
The big users are things like ovens, kettles, showers, immersion heaters and also stuff that doesn't actually use a lot less power when in "standby" (TV is a big one). Better to turn off at the plug rather than put in "standby". The OWL type device will show you that these things are still eating electrricty when you think they are "asleep".0 -
Ahhh, brilliant. Very interesting. Have signed up for BG's freebie as posted further up on this thread which includes a 'standby' energy saver. NOt exactly sure how it'll work but hey ho!0
