3 year old parking fine

I have just been contacted by the court about an outstanding parking ticket from December 2006.
This is the second time the court have requested payment of this fine, the first being in February this year.
I have explained that I have no recollection of receiving any parking ticket or any demand or reminder and therefore any means of appeal.
Can the court legally chase me for the money three years after the event? Is there any course of action I can take to not have to meet their demand for money?

    They can chase you.

Ask (in writing) for the details of the case. Then take it from there.

The only thing I can think that would be is a parking ticket issued under RTRA 1984 -- criminalised legislation.

You need to be clearer and give some detail rather than half a story.
  • I was contacted by the court in Feb 2009 and informed that I had an outstanding summons for £45 for a parking offence commited in 2006.
I told the court I was unaware of a fine or summons and dur to the lapse in time, felt it was unfair.
The court told me I could appeal to the Central Ticket Office and gave me the contact number.
When I spoke to the ticket office they told me the delay was due to a back log in the court and there was nothing they could do. I requested a copy of the ticket, so I could appeal against the fine. Although they agreed to this no copy was sent and that is the last I heard of it until today, when I was contacted by the Court again, and told that if I did not pay I would be arrested.
    Any ideas?

    The who?

This is like a guessing game!

Courts don't routinely order the arrest of people for unpaid parking fines. Still detail missing.
Is it so difficult to tell us exactly what has been said rather than your interpretation of it?
