Charges reclaiming

Can anybody help please? I have today been contacted by CRL Consultants, who are apparently the number one company to reclaim unfair charges and do not take any of the money won from the customer? I obviously am sceptical, and this seems too good to be true, but they knew my mortgage lender and how much I could claim. They say they acquire the information from mortgage companies who refuse to pass on the information to their customers? Has anyone heard of this? All I would have to pay is £100 to enable them to gain access to all my personal information. It seems a good option for me, as I'm tired of waiting for Lloyds TSB to pull their fingers out and repay me my charges. It's one of those 'no win no fee' companies, who claim from the mortgage lenders/banks/credit card companies. HELP!!!!

  • NO - I certainly wouldnt pay anything out. If you have already claimed then just hold on - as far as i know all the claims are on hold at the minute, i think the final decision is being made so they cant get anything any quicker. We are just waiting now too....
  • Hiya

I got a phone call from CRL Consultants few days ago. I was surprised as I have never claimed anything. They knew a mortgage I had 5 years ago, also they have quoted mine and my husband's DOB + they have quoted my debit card number. When I challaneged them where they have got my DC number from , they reply - Data Protection Act.. and we had an argument. Also, they said it was due to get repaid £ 2000,but they needed to run bank check, that I am the right person. I was never advised that I will get charged beforhand.Stupidly , I gave away another card number and they have tried to claim £ 199.00, but it is a card I use when not sure about the security they claimed 99.00 as I keep in it around 100 pounds. I have spoken to my bank, they will reclaim the money back , but I need to log a VISA complaint.
In my opinion what I have done it is stupid, but I think it is full scam.

I also have had this phone call from CRL Consultants and they seemed to know exactly what I had to claim from my mortgage company, like a fool I paid £199 and I have regretted it ever since they also knew part of my maestro card number, in all they sounded pretty convincing, they said the £199 was to cover them for me proceeding with it after they had done alot of the groundwork.

They were supposed to send me the documents out Monday 9/11/09 by special delivery and it hasn't turned up yet, I rang on Wednesday to find out where it was and I was told they hadn't been sent out Special Delivery but by normal 1st class post, it hasn't turned up today and they aren't answering the phones now. Obviously I am getting very wary now, has anyone had any success with this company ?????? has anyone at least received the documents ??????????.

Any help will be gratefully received.

    Regards

    Hiya

I have received the paperwork, but because I felt so stupid to give them my details and got charged I even did not get to look at it.
What I can not get and can not recall my memory is have they told me that I would be charged up-front as I would not pay anything.
However, luckily I did not give my card from the current account, used another card, so I had only 100 pounds there and they charged me 99.99....I rang the bank straight away and was advised to log a claim to request the money back, but unfortunatly it is been unsucssesful.....I did not get the letter yet to see the reasons, but I think I amy appeal.

Also, I am planning to send them a letter requesting a refund. I am sure I will be told off, but then I am planning to write to Watchdog........just wondering should I mention this in the letter...
  • I am in the same position, has anyone any advice what to do about claiming a refund?
  • Did you have any luck in getting a refund?
