Dell Inspiron 5150 from mid 2003 has Pentium 4 processor, 512 RAM, 3.06Ghz processor, 15" 1280x1024 non glossy LCD screen, solid typing keyboard, radeon 9000 graphics card, only 2 USB ports and only CD-RW drive and only 40GB hdd, but great build quality. Little bit heavy obviously but ok for occasional travel.

What can I upgrade and what can't I upgrade? eg hdd or RAM and would I have to do this via Dell?

alternatively do need another laptop. Would like a DVD RW and bigger hdd, at least double this one and 1GB RAM. What would be the closest though to this quality but with a different processor? I've tried 2 Dells in 2005 and was unhappy with them - the 6000 and 9400.
I would prefer not 17" either; something I can actually carry occasionally without a hernia or dark looks from airlines.
