Lighting for Garage - Ideas? (no power source)

Hi guys,
Title says it all really. I'm building a gym in my garage (sounds better than it is). It's a standard size garage (ie would fit a big car in if i could afford one), but it's set away from the house so i have no electricity source.
Just wandered if anything could recommend anything for me? I'm torn between solar power and battery. I'm assuming battery (with a recharger) will be better as there isn't much light about these days for a solar powered light to charge?
Thanks
Ian

maplin do a solar powered light for 50 quid. (inc a 6v battery).
maybe you could use a 6v charger with it, for the bad days?Get some gorm.0 -
Petrol tilly lamp like fisherman use is also an option.0

If your gym includes an exercise bike, how about a dynamo running off the wheel-would give you an incentive to pedal faster! No free lunch, and no free laptop0

You could get a small petrol generator, but I think there might be a problem with venting the fums (Carbon Monoxide) out of the garage."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Extension to put socets in the place out of the question ?

how far is it, if its not too far i would just use an extension cable that you use when mowing a lawn, plugged into a couple of lamps or what have you
generator will cost a lot to buy/run, tilley lamp wont really be any good0 -
They do some led lights for tents that give quite a good light. Asda sell them for about a fiver, would last a while. But ideally an extension lead as you have the option for some sounds out there to motivate you and hide the grunting noises.
If its something your going to be doing, get a socket fitted externally to the back of the house, ideal for gardening and you could plug your lead into that.0 -

Just as a matter of interest. How do you propose recharging the battery. You will pretty soon get fed up lugging a heavy battery to the nearest mains socket.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
