    Hi,

If you are in Sydney for new year eve ... look at http://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/nye/

I was going to recommend picnic in the park, but it is sold out.

There are some good places to eat at Darling Harbour starting around $10 if you buy a drink, can't rember the names but near the Navy boats.
    Fantastic view at night.

You will enjoy .... remember to take some form of blanket that you can sit on + photo id. When we did it, they had a singer, which was nice to listen to - be aware that there was a lot of Brits there ... no issue for us ... we enjoyed the chat ....

Good thing is that it doesn't open till about 18:30, so you can sightsee during the day - whereas if you wanted a spot by Opera House, you need to be there by midday - 14:00
