Tax credits x2

I have just checked my bank and i have been paid twice this week by the tax credit people. I'm worried now as the lst time they did this they stopped my money. I am on the lowest band of tax credit anyway and we havent earned over the threshold so i dont understand what is going on. I havent even had my renewel pack yet?

So have I. Payment went in Wed as usual and another Thursday. We get the family element (roughly £10 a week). Yesterdays post brought the renewal notice for this year and it mentioned when and what they would be paying. I wouldn't worry unless they do it again next month:eek:

Have either of you had any changes of circumstances, that can cause a new payment to be sent out just before or after your usual payments. HTH

No. No change. I have always qualified for the family element (£10ish) with the exception of when they 1st came out at the same time as my youngest was born and got the baby element (an additional £10 a week) until my daughter was 1. My guess is that my previous years award was paid for the last time on Wed and this years award was started on Thursday. I think it will all work out over the year but I'll watch just in case. In the meantime it was nice to have 2 payments within a week:D

If you normally get it paid on a monday it willl be because they are giving you next weeks due to the bank holiday, always happens to me. Just have to remember to budget for it.

Don't normally get it on Monday. Get it on bank on Wednesdays. The child benefit I do get on Mondays and that was in yesterday due to BH, so I had payment wednesday, thursday and friday this week...very nice:D . Must remember that when kids are driving me nuts;)

I got an extra payment too. We normally get the £10 a week paid four weekly but this week got an additional £23.82.

I agree with Spendless I think its just like a crossover payment. It happens to us every year around this time.

I had an extra payment a couple of weeks ago (my normal payment on the Thursday, an extra payment for the same amount on the Friday) i rang thier helpline and was told the second payment was an error on their part, so it would be claimed back as an overpayment. She said she didnt know when, where or how they would claim it back, but it would happen at some point and not to spend it!!!! I wasnt best impressed, but have stuck the payment in my savings account, ready for when they want it!!
Edited to add - the week i got my extra payment was the week my credits went up (not by much), and the week i got my new renewal letter.

I also got a 'random' payment last week, and then another set of forms arrived (we had three each about a month ago!) which said that they'd paid us X amount on this date, were going to pay Y amount on that date, and we'd then get Z amount for the rest of the year.
