yes i have tried tto apply for tipper driving jobs but they al lwant experience. I also worked for a agency but the work i was getting was mad one day i would start at 7am then the next day off and then a 00,00 - 5am job and all based in locations far from the house so i gave that up and went for a job on the coaches which is another long story. I am currently with a company that operates transit vans & 7.4 tn & also class 2 vehicles which is paying £7.70 per hr which i intend to do to build up a good reference and then fingers crossed

I have trained around 11 or 12 drivers from 3663 Paul they are all smiley and dont complain at all about the work , they start early but work job and finish basis.

Its so frustrating when people ask how much experience you have got , what came first the chicken or the egg syndrome! how are u supposed to get experience if no one will give you a start? my Advice, when you are being knocked back by companies ask them for feedback and then when they say "little experience" offer yourself up for an assessment drive, i have held many assessments for tipper companies for insurance purposes and believe me mate if you can drive you will be probably be better than those currently employed by the company!

  • Paul,

I work for 3663 in Northampton, I start around 5 and as has been said its job and finish, I usually finish around 1.30 - 2.00 and Salary is £29,120.

I've been there a year and had passed my test 7 months before I started. I went to several interviews in this area and got them all, thats how short of drivers they are around here.

They have been a good company to work for up to now and have some good benefits, pension, healthcare and such.

I enjoy it, but it can be hard physical work so beware, its not just driving!
