Some of you have been very kind to help me with my many iPod & iTunes problems. I have to tell you all now that the day has arrived when I believe nothing more can be done except for a ceremonial burning!
This time I have just plugged in my iPod to upload a number of albums I have downloaded and it now tells me that I have a disk error and cannot read or write to the disk. On the iPod screen there is a file icon with an exclamation mark. I have followed all the advice from the apple website and nothing has worked.
Has anybody else had this problem and found a solution? If not, then the iPod gets it!
Many thanks,

Yup. Is there also a repetitive 'clicking' from the disk mechanism inside the Ipod. If so, the disk mechanism has become stuck. Turn it off, then hold your Ipod face down in one hand, then give the back a single sharp slap. I've rejuvinated my 4G Ipod several times this way. (Of course, if it was still in the warranty peiod, I'd have taken it back!)0 -
i just spent £10 on getting a new battery installation kit for my ipod mini only to find that itunes didnt work and that when i reinstalled itunes it wont re-install. So im stuck with an empty iPod and no way of getting songs onto it!!0

You don't have to use iTunes!
Try one of the many better alternatives.

I've just had the same problem happen to me today. The iPod (4th gen) was working last week, but is clicking now and doesn't even respond (on screen) to being charged. I suppose I need a new one (rather than spend £150 on a new hard disk and then another £40 or so on a new battery when it eventually dies as well). Looks like I should have bought an iRiver after all.0

I use anapod explorer and paid for it, its great far better than Itunes and can backup the drive.0

Yes I use Anapod as well, but my PC isn't recognising the iPod as an external drive so it will never get to the stage that Anapod can recognise the ipod. I actually paid for two copies on Anapod - one for home and one for work!!0
