I bought ZA security suite a year ago and now get messages saying I need to pay to renew it.
First of all is this correct (not very clear on how these things work).
Secondly, is it worth it, or should i go with the free firewall, AVG, spybot etc. recommended in other threads? (home user)
Thirdly, if i did renew, could i use it on the three computers in our shared house?
thanks

If you want to continue to receive updates then yes you will need to pay to renew it.
Personally I would say that for the average home user then the free version of Zonealarm combined with Avast/AVG and Spybot is more than enough. OK I suppose ZA Suite is an all in one solution but of course at a price.
The only thing you'd miss is parental controls which is the only reason why I use it.0 -
I used zone alarm for a while now, and i think its a lot better then all the free ones put together, for a start having more seprate programs running uses up more resources, where in zone alarrm its all one big app

Check whether buying ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite again is cheaper than renewing the licence for the one you've got. (Yes, it does happen!). Amazon has someone who sells, apparently legitimately, an unused licence for £13.97 plus postage (which gets refunded, it says). The "no CD" bit is no problem, because the CD contains v 6.0, and immediately you install that, you have to download the complete v 6.1 from the website!
I shall be installing this on Monday (possibly) at a friend's house, and hope it will go well...

With zonealarm, as soon as you register the licensece it starts to countdown again!
Its the same price to get a new one as to renew it again as well :-)

@ caveman
it may seem to make sense to buy an 'all in one' package, but you can keep your comp just as safe using freeware apps
I use Avast Home Edition in conjunction with Zone alarm and XCleaner, and despite being online for 14 hours a day I never have any problems
keep everything up to date and you can protect youself for nothing real easy"If you really want to hurt your parents and you don't have nerve enough to be homosexual, the least you can do is go into the arts."0 -
