  • This is what I did.

I got a friend (who has connections with people in the trade) to buy a damaged (Category C, cosmetic damage) from an auction website and do it up.

I got a Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Ghia, 04 plate for £1,600 and in total with the work to get it sorted, MOT and tax etc it came to just over £3k.

This is for a car that has a list price new of around £20k and would be around £5k if I bought it through Autotrader.

You tend to find that popular fleet/rep cars have high depreciation as the companies who buy them negotiate big discounts for volume.

I'll tell you in a few years if my Mondeo was a good buy, see how reliable it is first!

Also I'd just like to add that although now I can now afford newer or better cars, for many years when the kids were a great demand, (not that they aren't now, I alwys bought ex rep cars at 3 years old, most seemed to get rid of them at the 1st MOT. Cavaliers, Sierra etc. They had between 80 and 100K on the clock. All those cars served me well, no new engines etc and when I sold them after usually 4 years I had lost little.

EG a 3 year old Cav would have had a list price new of over 13K, prive at that mileage in mint outside condition, 4K:confused::confused::confused:

    The sums don't need doing;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
