Applying for job at companythat made someone redundant.

What are the regulations about applying for jobs at the very same company that made someone redundant?
Lets say some one is made redundant from Bloggs and Co on Friday, and was employed as a Clerical Officer and saw an advert in the job centre for this company a week or so later for a Administration Officer, the job having all the duties of the first job but with a few extra added on.
FYI the person concerned took volantary redundancy

  • Wouldn't it depend on the Company's own rules. I know that my (last) Company offered a lot of voluntary redundancies if the role had changed by (I think) 40%. Those people were then unable to reapply for jobs at the Company for a year. They could apply for something substantially different or in a different area after 3 months. So, I think it would depend on the Company. I can't see that there are any legal restrictions.

For what it's worth, my Company's VR payment was stunningly good, and I was upset I wasn't allowed it!
