Wolfman, could you please let me know the best string that I need to put in the ADDITIONAL COMMAND LINE OPTIONS box in exact audio copy to achieve the best encoding at around 200 kbps. I am currently using the following:
    -V 1 --vbr-new --id3v1-only --ta "%a" --tt "%t" --tg "%m" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" %s %d

(note that I'm using -V 1). In your opinion is this a reasonable option and what's your preference? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Best place for anything audio related. I was using V1, which is the equivalent of the extreme preset (around 220kbps). As far as all the other commands are concerned I didn't really use them as I batch tag my files with Dr Tag.

From the looks of things though, your string looks about right.

    Doesn't support Ogg :(

Otherwise, yeah it has more features/functions, better battery life and can play a range of video codecs. Little bit bigger though and harder to control (in my opinion).

    Thanks for the reply wolfman.

You would have been better using: Argh! Which Ogg Player? for your thread then. I hope you find your answer soon.
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

True, didn't think I'd get as much response with that though. And 90% of my collection is mp3, I just wanted Ogg compability for the future as it's now my file format of choice.

Looks like I'll be getting an iPod 30gb 5th Gen with Rockbox on it.

Excellent choice although I'd go for the 60GB. Space on these things runs out really quickly.
