Glass Shower Screen - Anyone had a problem with size of screen.

Options
We've just purchased a shower screen to fit to our bath, the size is Size (H)137.5 (W)75cm. When searching for screens this seemed to be the most common size.

We havent taken it out of its packaging yet. My husband is worried that the screen is neither tall nor wide enough to avoid spray/splashes escaping.

I have to admit, since we've measured out the distance on the bath, i'm having my doubts too.

But surely the size must be ok, as this is a common size? Has anyone got a screen this size that can give their opinion? We dont want to return it and buy a larger more expensive screen if its not really necessary.

Thanks.

  • i've got one that size and it doesn't stop all the water escaping, I use a shower curtain as well. the reason I had the screen put up was cos a lot of water was escaping out the side of the curtain beside the wall, and the screen has stopped that.
Not too much gets over the top of the screen, unless the shower is high up or if limescale is making the spray come out at funny angles, but unless you have the showehead pointing stright down some will get over the side of the bath.

we looked at normal size screens and didnt like any of them. so we opted for a 4 section sliding screen.
    very pleased with it.

    a bit like this one.

750mm width is nowhere near big enough, you will have a wet floor with that size. I have no idea why so many manufacturers make screens in this kind of width when they're not all that effective. Might be ok with a fixed head shower head but even then, the splashes off your body when you're washing will still go everywhere.

I'm looking for a screen too at the moment. My problem is that my bathroom is small so the multi panel screens tend to look a bit intrusive and overpowering and the plain single panel frameless screens look ideal. However I need a multi panel for practicality. Can't quite find something that looks streamlined and will do the job well.

  • you can get wider ones that have a small fixed panel on the wall and a hinged section from there, otherwise there are many two/three/four section units available.

I have sold and fitted the standard size for many years with no issues most of the time the shower pressure is too low to cause problems.
The spray doesnt get a chance to get beyond the screen.

If when you're in the shower you let the screen overhang the inside of the bath a little bit it's fine...

Good afternoon: we've had multi-fold screens in other properties but lately we've been using this.

does a decent 4- fold bath screen in the Geo6 range.

I think that would do the job just fine but OH is adamant he wants away from curtains.

    Thanks btw.

I agree with you, my en-suite is small too and am worried the multi panel screens will look intrusive. I also want to try and stay away from a shower curtain.

The thing is once its up its too late to return it. I want to keep the cost down as much as possible too.

Still dont know what to do!!!

I'm not sure my husband will go along with this option. He'll make me get a shower curtain :(
