I hope you understand I was only trying to illustrate my 'human' cost compared to the seemingly small financial cost to a big bank, and the idea that at a certain point desperation can make people do things we aren't so proud of - I'm not actually trolling for sympathy. I only wanted to ask about this particular scheme. Though thank you for the link, I will look anyway.
I take your point about the costs being passed on to the rest of society, and I do agree.
Though I am convinced that although it was my fault, it really would have helped me if the finance had been more ethical. They made money by overselling me credit when a two minute conversation with me would have made it clear I wasn't in a good situation. I didn't fully understand the possible consequences of the offer back then, but they did! The sooner they legislate for stupidity (though privately I like to call it naive and inexperienced), the happier I will be!
