Is anyone else fed up with their solicitor?

Must have a rant about my solicitor. Firstly, I requested the F and F list about 3 weeks ago, as we were going to measure up last weekend and thought it would be helpful to have. Knew the solicitor had it because she told me. 2 weeks, several emails and one voicemail later we still didn't have the list. On Monday I rang up to shout but only got hold of the assistant, who said she would send it out. Finally receive list on Tues, 2 weeks after asking for it and too late for the house visit.

Had to ring again several times this week as our vendors are really keen to move next week and we've not even exchanged yet. On not one occasion did I get through to the actual solicitor, she was always "on the phone". So I leave messages for her to call me back - she never does.

So yesterday I emailed her (given up with the futile voicemail leaving), asking for news. No reply. Emailed her again late yesterday, asking for a reply. She emails back (finally) but only saying she'll update me today. It's now 4.45 and despite emailing her yet again, I have yet to receive an response.

Sorry for mammoth post but I'm really fed up. Is anyone else's solicitor this useless?
What did I do at work before I discovered MSE?!

DFD - WAS: a while ago

NOW - not sure, due to boyfriend going back to uni for masters and now pgce. Worth it in the long run!

Went to sign today. Got there, was sat for twenty minutes, went in and what do you think is the first thing he says?

    Can you guess???

"Well then, there is just a small matter of the final fee"
    LMAO

After this he then tells us how there may be a problem with the £1000 we are recieving back for the damp in the house that without we cannot afford to get the work done. The refund was "news to him" for one. Then tells us the house is technically costing us a thousand punds less. Now what I dont understand is how can the work be costing £2500 but the house be worth less?

Crazy folk. Something tells me that we will not be complete for this Friday.

God knows how Im going to have the strength to sell.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I've been very lucky in that I have a very helpful and friend solicitor who I'd happily recommend to anyone. She's been extra valuable now that the garage situation is happening(on deeds but vendor denies all knowledge of).
    Happy chappy

totally fed up of our solicitor also

they never reply to e-mails and we are still waiting for F&F list for purchase, 8 weeks down the line
i have asked for this several times also !

thankfully i work with our vendor so i know what she is leaving/taking
but i know this isnt "official"

it annoys me that the solicitor is working for us, is cr*p, yet will get paid in full immediately on completion

on 2nd thoughts - more fool us - we are all in the wrong job ! :o

Just found a message on my aswerphone telling us they cannot find the cheque we personaly posted through the letter box. In full and final payment.

Also upon reflection the guy said "just sign this" bearing in mind it was the contract you would at least think that he would of said "just check this"

Your solicitor sounds 100% like mine its scary, she is even a she like yours, just out of interest is your solicitor in the Eastcote, Middlesex area ? Same issues for me, rarely returns calls, emails, has called me once in 3 months, has NEVER been on top of anything !! If she is not the same as yours, its proof the vast majoriity solicitors are crap. Mine is pretty certain to fall through now and I do partly blame her !!!!!
  • I have to say that mine have been marvelous! Totally up to speed, email updates, web access to their site with a password. They are quick friendly and efficient, we have a small chain of 2 buys and one sell and they are completley up to speed first contract signed and waiting inside 4 weeks another due for signing next week and I think good value for money. Even my jaded EA is impressed and going to give them a lot of work.
The quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...

Am a bit confused, went to the local solicitor's office about a quote and I was given a Conveyancer to deal with me. I hear people mentioning solicitors, do I need to insist on a Solicitor or the conveyancer can do the job of the Solicitor. Thanks
