DVLA giving out my personal info?

Apologies if this is the wrong board. Unfortunately today I got a parking ticket. The sign said free parking for 2 hours in big bold letters however underneath in not so big bold letters it said, if you leave the site you are liable to a charge. Obviously we did not see this and after visiting the shops in that retail park we walked round to the next one and going by the time on the ticket we were seconds out of site when the ticket was written:mad:.
My gripe is that the ticket says, do nothing as we will contact DVLA for your info. I have phoned DVLA and apparently they will release the NAME and ADDRESS of anyone who requests it for £2.50. I find this absolutely outrageous parking ticket or not. Are we not covered by Data Protection? I spend so much time in my job adhereing to it surely they cannot issue it and also charge, effectively selling my info. Please help if anyone can I would be very greatful.

When you fill in docs for the DVLA, you agree that they can send your info out to people who have reasonable cause to request it. Even if you did not, they could disclose it under the DPA if they had reasonable cause. The DVLA makes millions of pounds every year frm selling personal data - they are not going to stop any time soon.
However in relation to the ticket, no need to worry. File it away and ignore it. And be happy that the private parking company has wasted £2.50 on obtaining your details.
Look on the private parking board for more info.

Seen your M.P lately?, perhaps write to them and ask what their view on this is.
Tell them you will use your vote accordingly.
Meanwhile, The more people that sign this the better:
