  • Im in the same boat- tried loads of stuff inc going to docs etc. See the oil cleansing method- google it. im going to give this a try! Fingers crossed! You can buy the oils off ebay or health shops should have them. Also Liz earle C&P is great ive been using it but its so expense- a cheaper alternative is Tesco's Bnatural skin brightening cleanser at £1.74 for 50ml! Bargain! Its meant to be VERY similar...im going to try it when i can get my hands on some!!:rotfl:
  • If you get acne on your chin alot it may be your hormones so i'd get that checked at the doctors.
I think suducream is good for spots, not idea about any of the oils sorry.

I have suffered from acne since age 15 - I'm now 31 and after several years of it being relatively controlled it flared up big time early this summer and I have now been on antibiotics (minocycline, which I requested as it cleared it up quite well in my teens) for a few months - was on it for 2 months initially, worked a treat, but the acne came back as soon as I stopped taking it. I'm now on my second course of the same stuff and have been referred for blood tests to check hormone levels etc. I am sure the recent flare-up is hormone-related as my periods changed from their normal pattern at the same time. I hope my GP will suggest Dianette next, though she didn't want to put me on it before as I didn't require it as a contraceptive.

I use Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and sometimes the OCM, and I find that it makes no difference to the really bad spots but leaves the rest of my skin in better condition than it's ever been in!

Hi, my doctors answer is "some unlucky people always have spots, your one of them"

There not on my chin really but i think they are hormonal - taking primose oil now.

Sudacream takes the redness away but it seems to irratate the rest of my face.

Got some cleanser from lush, seems to be working! Yay
  • I wash my face with Simple soap and warm water. Then I use Quinodrem. You need just a very small amount of it and use it whether you have spots or not, to keep them at bay! If I forget to use it then I get spots in a matter of hours.
This does contain benzoyl peroxide, so is drying to the skin, but you can get it in 5% and 10% (which is the one that I use.)

I would also strongly recommend Forever Living Products Liquid Soap. Costs less than #10 and lasts ages. It contains aloe vera and moisturisers and is very gentle. I want to be honest and say I am invlolved with the company but that is not why I am recommending it. My step brother had horrendous acne and it was so sore. He tried the above product and no longer has the acne just very faint scarring. If he stops using it the spots all return with a vengence. I also have other friends who swear by it and won't use anything else on their face, me included!!

I have used primrose oil before- but for eczema. I've never heard of it being any good for acne, but being oily I think it might make it worse.

I second Liz Earle, it's a very gentle cleanser. Definitely worth the money in my opinion.

Also, I have noticed snail cream works wonders on my skin when it's an absolute mess. And by snail cream I mean cream containing snail slime. Try not to be repulsed by the idea, it can work wonders on dry skin, spotty skin, itchy, red skin etc. It is a bit pricey but a little bit goes a long way. I can't remember the particular brand I use at the moment but try searching 'snail serum'.

Okay, ive googled it. At £50 a pop I might just giveit a miss. Can't afford for it not to work!!
  • Hmm snail cream :) no thanks! But ive been using the bnatural skin brightening cleanser & radiance mask (a similar and cheaper alternativer to liz earle C&P and brightening mask) seems to be working and giving me the same effects as liz earle at a fraction of the cost (touch wood) X
