DWP do make checks and you may hear of people "getting away with it" but how many boast that they've been caught!!! because you would be surprised how many actually do.

Yes very good point the ones that get caught boast no more!!!!!! :D

  • There will always be people who think they can get away without declaring money they may have, I've asked countless people before if they have any "savings or investments" and most will answer that they don't. It is then when you actually explain what you mean by savings that they tell you about the £5000 of premium bonds and the thousands they have in various bank accounts.

Sometimes just using a search engine like Google can give you information about a customer that they have not declared and can cast doubt over a claim.

Vader, just wanted to say Genius!

I try not to be negative on these boards but the OP's question did seem to be looking for a way to cheat the system so your post made me chuckle!

I work in benefits and now think I might use MSE as a tool! Hee Hee
I currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.

    I cant comment on castle96.

However if you do work in benefits, keep an eye out in the forum. There are people who post here regularly who openly claim to get "cash in hand" on the misplaced thought that they are anon on here.

For the OP and anybody else who are thinking of defrauding the honest tax payers of this country, you know when whatever financial body in which you are investing your money asks for your National Insurance number for their records, and when you apply for benefit they ask for your National Insurance number...... need I say more...........
