Credit Card Insurance

Hi, I'm new to this forum and was wondering if anyone would be able to give me advice on the following.

On Friday 15th May my husband had paid off all of the balance of his mint credit card. On Sunday 17th May he had an accident and was unable to return to work on Monday 18th May due to being in hospital receiving treatment etc. Since that time (4 months) he has been unable to return to work but had continued paying his credit card bills and has continued using his credit card.

He has now reached a point where he can no longer pay his mint credit card payments as he has no idea when he will be fit for work so contacted them as he has payment protection. They agreed that they would pay 10% of the balance each month but only from Friday 15th May when he had cleared all but £300 of his card. He presumed that as he was claiming now they would take the payments from now not from 4 months ago. Does anyone know if that would be correct? Also, if they are only going to pay £30 and the bill is £100 every month but he has no income, will he still have to find the extra £70.

Sorry, hope that makes sense. Any help would be most appreciated.
