Hello everyone,
I took my Ford Fiesta MK4 (2001) in for a service today and just received a phone call that wasn't good news.
Basically it has a broken coil spring, back shock absorbers have gone and the break pipe is coroded. The total bill including the service £570!!!
Now i can't afford the whole £570!! so i decided to go with part of the service (oil & filter change), coil spring & shock absorbers as i thought those to be most important, i hope i'm right. This has bought the cost down to £385 and i am thinking is that reasonable?
can anyone give their opinion please?

I've no idea whether that price is reasonable having never needed that work done before. What were other garages' quotes like? Prices can vary hugely so you should get an idea that way of whether it's reasonable.
A corroded brake pipe is something that will fail the MOT so that'll need doing eventually. Not to mention a potential safety issue.0 -
Thanks for your reply crabman,
i didn't ring round for any other quotes as for the coil spring i knew it was serious and had to be done there and then so was just wandering if the price was reasonable.
It passed the MOT just 6 weeks ago.0 -
Don't take any passengers out with you if you have a corroded brake pipe!
It's worth getting into debt to get this done before you go on the road again!0 -

I would've thought that if the brake pipe was that badly corroded, it should have been spotted and reported, even as an advisory at the least, on the MOT.Genie
