Car parking in Cardiff city center

We are travelling to Cardiff in Nov (14-17) and staying at Holiday Inn. The hotel charges £10 per 24 hours, which I think it is quite steep espcially for a conference delegate. Does anyone know any cheaper alternative car parks in the area?

  • To be honest I think £10 for 24 hrs is probably a bargain in Cardiff - I know one car park charges 80p per 15 mins !

Must find the park and ride as a cheaper alternative next time.

  • I got free car parking outside the Atlantic Wharf Travelodge over the summer-I think the hotel had some sort of free car park arrangement anyway, but there was a space right outside reception that I just nipped into and saved the bother. That's a bus ride from the city centre, though.

the park and ride is only £3.50 a day, with buses every 15 mins until 6pm. Well worth it for a days shopping! Its just by companies house on the way in from a470, havent used it for a good few months though, they may put the prices up over xmas, but still nuch cheaper.

  • £10 is an absolute bargain for 24hr parking in the centre of Cardiff. The hotel is next to the Millennium Stadium, across the road from the castle, yards away from the river and a 5 minute walk away from the new St Davids 2 shopping development, so you'd be hard pushed to find a better place to park your car! There's always the option of leaving your car in a residential area further away from the centre, but then you'd have to take a bus or taxi into town (all single journeys cost £1.50 by bus), and then you wouldn't have the peace of mind of knowing your car is securely parked in the hotel car park. Another option is the train perhaps; Cardiff is only 2 hours away from London after all, and the train station is a short walk along the Millennium Walkway from the hotel. Even better, the Megabus stops outside the castle which is practically opposite the hotel!
  • whenever we go into cardiff we park by the museum this is cheaper than any of the story car parks
A big thank you to all those who post on the forum and make it a worthwhile place!!!:j

Mum always uses the Park and Ride at Companies House which is well signposted as you come into Cardiff from the A470 end.

I also know that there is Park and Ride at the Council offices down in Atlantic Wharf.

I think all Park and Ride buses stop at the bus stop at the top end of Greyfriars Rd, by the Hilton.
