Hi, thanks to everyone, I wasn't expecting so many responses!
I have downloaded forms for a crisis loan, and housing/council tax benefit... But I'm thinking they'll take forever! I really hope not.
Well, tomorrow, I have to go to the Housing office, and see if they can do anything quickly, and the same for the Jobcentre.
Fingers crossed!

Hi
Am not sure what to add, other than whats already been said, just wanted to add some support really. Hope you get sorted with your crisis loan and housing benefit etc, would have thought the crisis loan in particular would be sorted pretty quickly, hopefully anyway,
Hope you get sorted, try and keep your chin up.DMP Support Thread Member 238DMP started October 20080 -
I would suggest your employers as your first port of call. How long you get full or half sick pay for should be in your contract of employment (no, I don't know where mine is, either
). But they should have a copy to hand and should be able to find out what has happened. If they haven't paid you what you are entitled to - administrative !!!! up maybe - they are in the wrong and will have to put it right.
Are you in a trade union btw?0 -
crisis loans are supposed to be paid on the day they are applied for as if you can wait another day its not a "crisis", you will need to be able to tell them when your child tax credit & child benefit are due. if you have any money left from your wages they may possibly say you are not at the moment in crisis as you have money available - doesnt matter if its earmaked and they may advise you to contact theem again when the money is goneskintbint x

I'm going to have to get in touch with HR tomorrow... they're never 'available' on a Monday (or any other day of the week for that matter!) Pert of my job is dealing with them on a daily basis, so I already know they're gonna be a pain in the a**e and how good they are at messing peoples wages up! And if that is the case they won't sort anything out until next months wages are due. But it is GUARANTEED they will argue that they are right.
And I've just checked my bank online, and so far the damage has put me at -£100 :-( (which now puts me at further overdrawn than I was before I got paid)

I've got no good advice, but it makes me so angry when single working mothers have to struggle like you do (I was one once).
I hate to say it but you would probably be better off on benefits & it would be regular & your rent paid.
What about the CAB for debt help & any advice they can give.0 -

You don't have to wait till next month to sort it out if it's their mistake, although they will try and tell you all that guff. Ask for a cheque.0 -
Hi, Just to update, I haven't made it to my Job Centre yet, they won't see me without an appointment, and and haven't had one for the last two days... I'm thinking of setting up camp there today.
And I've had my wage slip, and with it there was a letter from my manager saying that I'm no longer being paid company sick pay rate (full wage) and instead, he has reduced my wages to SSP rate for the duration of my absence. This means I'm going to struggle while I'm off, and I'll also struggle to get to work (I work 30 miles away from home, so travel costs aren't the cheapest!)
I'm still not seeing an end to this, and with what has happened this week I feel like everything I've been trying to sort out in the 10 weeks I've been off has been a waste, and now I'm back to square one. :-( With a bit of luck I'll manage to get things sorted (again) soon enough.
Thanks to everyone for your support.

I would contact the tax credits people now you know you are on ssp - assume you will be off for the foreseable future and change your yearly pay accordingly - as someone else said earlier - they are usually very quick at altering payments, they quite often pay an extra lump sum for some reason - that may well give you the extra you need to get through the next week or so - are you in a council house or private renting?0

Hi natters,
I'm private renting. But my landlady's on holiday atm so i can't get in touch with her. I don't pay rent until the 9th so with a bit of luck I might be able to sort something before then.
