How Can I Fix A Small Crack In The Bath?

Options
Hi all,

I have a small crack in my acrylic bath that measures about 10 inches long. Super glues and Duck tape seems to stop it from leaking, my problem being I have a 12 month old son who has started standing up and it won't be long before he starts jumper on the cracked area.

Is there any repair kits for inside baths? I know that there are fibre glass kits for the underneath but I cannot get to the area so the bath would need to come out. We have a bath/shower mat over the area so I guess cosmetically I could use the fibre glass repair kit inside if it's save to do so.

Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
Dave

    Hi,

I was the one that started the thread that has been quoted to you.

We did in fact go to B & Q and buy a bath repair kit (can't remember which one, however it wasn't more than £20) and the bath has been absolutely fine since!

Cheaper and less hassle than a new bath (for now!).

Do you not have Contents insurance cover?

The accidental damage part of the policy will replace the bath for you.

I agree with Alan M - how did you get a crack in the bath? The reason I ask is that I had an accident about 4 years ago when I decided to take off some tiles from around the bath as I wanted to change them. As I was doing this one tile fell into the bath and I couldn't catch it - it damaged the bath and I had a hole in it!

I phoned the insurance and told them exactly what had happened, told them it was an accident and it was my fault. They said I was covered with accidental damage and I had a new bath and fitted.

It would be worth looking into - I even told them it was my own fault!

Is a bath defaintaley covered on Contents rather than buildings insurance ?

I've just broke mine, and I have a big excess for buildings but not for contents.

    cheers

if access to the crack is easy, then try the repair kit.
but if it has to come out anyway to repair then i would just replace it instead.
esp with a new BQ suite costing just 189 quid.
    Get some gorm.
