There is no product called Windows 2007. Is it Microsoft Office 2007 you have lost, or your Windows operating system?

Tricky I would have thought to wipe the entire OS off your computer.
Does it boot in safe mode?

(My local Tesco are selling Windows7)

Not that tricky, PC World managed to do it to my neighbour's PC whilst removing a virus for him!

OP you need to post more information about what the problem is.
Does it actually boot into Windows? If so is it just Office you've lost? Do you still have the actually documents he created?
It's my problem, it's my problem

Cant you try to restore from the CD again?
Did the cd come for that machine?

If xp is not booting in safemode either, then its mega issue - you will need to get windows xp as well.

Might want to turn to Linux - easy to install and up and running quick with openoffice.

EDIT : If xp does boot or he can get into some other pc to use - you might try to using openoffice (free) http://openoffice.org
For MS Office 2007, you need to go out and pay for it I am afraid.

You need to recover your Windows XP operating system before worrying about Microsoft Office.
This is normally found in a recovery partition on your harddrive, or you may have a disk that was supplied with your PC.
The manual supplied with the PC should tell you how to do this, or post the make and model off PC and someone could look it up for you.
Be aware that a rebuild will mean that everything on the disk will be wiped so will need to be restored from a backup.
Then, when you are up and running again you could download Open Office ( as suggested above) which is compatible with Microsoft Office and free.
BTW What prompted running system restore in the first place.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

If you get your PC working:

1-you could download open office (freeware), install that on any other PC that works and that would let you open/edit/print/save any office files you have.

2-Otherwise you'll need to reinstall Office 2007 from the CDs if you have them.

3-Or you'll need to go and buy a retail copy office 2007 from a shop for about £100, tho why you'd do that over option 1 I don;t know

4-if you can wait you could probably order online via the student software site (commonly linked on here, don;t have to hand) and get office 2007 at a more reasonable price

Can't really see how Linux could possibly help or be useful to the OP, apart from it being free. She needs to sort out Windows with Office 2007... adding the complexity of Linux, new OS, and apps which don't run natively (office 2007), isn't the best idea...

where2start, you need to see if you have the original CDs that came with the machine, or a recovery partition, you can do a restore from this, but if you had Office 2007 installed after this, you'll need to locate the installer. If you haven't got it and it's not on the recovery discs, you'll need to contact the supplier to see if they can check it was supplied, else you'll have to purchase it again.

You could use free OpenOffice, but if you are using all the features and have many files in Office 2007, it's not the perfect option.
  • many many thanks to you all that have given me suggestions....will weigh the options out and see whats best....dont have the spare cash to go out and buy it now :o.

    Cheers
