Play TV for PS3 or Freesat HD on a budget?

Hi there guys and gals i'm really considering buying the Play TV addon for the PS3 which to people who don't own a PS3 a Freeview recorder that allows you to watch and record TV even pause and rewind the freeview channels etc. I've seen this at the cheapest £40, (if anyone can find a cheaper deal then hats off to you).
Question is, the Freesat or Freesat HD, does it really have any distinctive channels that make it worth buying over freeview. I'm under the impression I could get Freesat HD on the cheap but is it worth buying a combo that records? or buy a HDD to record from it. I've been looking at the channels and there is nothing to really sway me between the price of being able to record and view my programs at £40 and then spending what looks like buying the whole Shabang for over £100 with the Freesat HD and HDD.
Any comments on either of the products about channels would be appreciated. It's a very broad comparison here, sorry guys but i'm just wondering briefly if Freesats channel selection is worth paying twice as much for over freeview.
Regards
Alex

Can you post the link for it at 40 quid please ~ I might get one myself
Freesat of course has HD channels, but it seems the qualitys getting worse and worse (Which is maddening because they generally started out better quality than skys)
Youll certainly get a little more choice with Freesat purely because of HD
Im interested in the 'play' box as its believed that when HD comes to freeview the play box will be capable of decoding the signal (Though this is all guesswork until it actually arrives):idea:0 -
Heres a list of all the freesat channels (You'll need to click about a bit to see tham all)

If you go freesat, buy the HUMAX recorder:idea:0 -

from what i've heard the high def freeview uses a standard that playtv hasn't got the support for.
and i got mine for £40 in july from argos. keep an eye out on HDUK as they often appear there.0 -
HD on freeview will use the DVB-T2 standard as opposed to the DVB-T standard that is currently in use.
There is no DVB-T2 compatible receiver hardware on the market at this time. Why pay more than you have to?0 -

Take into consideration that the 'play' hardware can use the PS3 for any type of decoding it so desires:idea:0 -
i have the ps3 playtv, and am very pleased with it, though its not hd it does sharpen up 'ordinary' freeview quality making it much better quality.i have heard that hd will be on freeview soon any how, and the playtv will be able to recieve this.for the price of it i would snap one up. i paid i think near £70 when it was launched so £40 a bargain!0

All it does is 'upscale' the SD picture
My tv does exactly the same as my PS3 does with dvds but better quality than the PS3:idea:0 -

My question is, been doing a little bit of looking round but I can't find anything on a HD upgrade for play, any thoughts?

Decoding isn't the issue, there are freeview TVs that can decode mpeg4. The DVB card in the 'play' hardware will not be able to receive the DVB-T2 signal, which has different broadcast technology - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-T2Why pay more than you have to?0
