Car insurance- refund of premium possible?

I have recently moved home, the new place has a secure private underground car park. When going on price comparison websites i noticed that the premiums were around 30% cheaper in my new place.

Is it possible to get a refund of my insurance once i have registered the new address?

I am with Kwik fit

thanks

A refund is possible, though this may be eaten up by any admin fee you get charged for the change in policy details..

    depends, are you paying monthly?

When you told your current insurer the change of address did you also tell them the change of parking details?

Perfectly possible to get a refund on some of the premium, but as stated the admin fee might eat into it somewhat.

Make sure you check the schedule when you get it to make sure they updated the parking details!

Are the premiums you have found for kwik-fit or another insurer? If another insurer, they have a different attitute to that postcode so don't expect kwikfit to offer the same.

Usually you will be better staying with the same insurer rather than loosing the year's additional NCD. Make sure you shop arround well at renewal.
  • Thanks for your replies, i managed to get £191 back from Kwik fit after the £25 admin fee. Was offered £131 at first but managed to talk them up!

Kwik Fit site says "£5 to £25 charge, depending on the change"
