I recently moved into a flat. The management company want to charge me £40 for a new key as i wasn't provided one by the previous seller (it's a repossesion).
A bit miffed by this, can i insist they supply it as part of the costs i pay for management or do i have to stump up the £40?

£40 sounds a bit steep for a post box key but the management company probably can charge you: read your copy of your long lease to see what is and is not included in the service charge, and whether there are any caps on additional charges. Everything leasehold here, well worth getting your head around the basics of the legislation:

You'd have to pay for your own key but isn't there a telephone number on the box? I just bought a repossession and there was a number inside the lid. It cost me £12 for two keys. Hardly the bargain of the century but it's cheaper than a new box!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I discovered by accident this week that the key that locks my tilt and turn windows also unlocks my postbox! This is despite it being smaller in size than my postbox one.

It's locked at the moment so i can't open it. Normally locks have numbers of them and that's all you need to get a key made but this one doesn't. Looks like I'll just have to stump up the £400
