South Africa Investment into UK???

Can anyone suggest a way to take money out of South Africa?

My boyfriend needs to bring back about £5k, and has tried going down the normal routes but isn't getting anywhere, can anyone suggest anything?

We wondered if he went over to SA and draw the money out in Rand and brought it back and changed it over here. Would that be an option?

Maybe you can get GBP accounts over there, or US dollars. If so a transfer to that could be worthwhile depending on their fees and exchange rate (simply all this by asking how much will my xxx rand be worth.

Then once you have that currency things are alot easier.


Another possibility is electronic forms such as paypal, nochex or egold providing they have a presence in rand.

I'm no expert either but I always understood you can only take out of SA what you can prove you took in! :eek: So if you took it in fine. If its eg result of sale of a property whose value has gone up, you might have a problem. Good luck.;)

I think your best bet is try to negotiate with agencies which many South Africans in UK use to remit ther money back home. You may actually come come with a better rate than the bank with them.
