Advice on haggling in an antiques store

Options
I've fallen in love with a cupboard but its way more than I want to spend, has anyone got any tips on how to successfully get them to reduce the price?

Apologies if I've posted this on the wrong forum :o

be friendly, chatty and admire the piece saying its out your price range, decide what you would ideally feel comfortable paying and make an offer slightly below, -for cash only! make sure you tell them cash makes a difference the dealer will probably say too low and then try to come to a compromise near you safe price. usually find either first thing in the morning or last thing at night when the weather is miserable works best, got a beautiful console table £599 down to£399 in sale but said loved it but just too expensive at moment what could they do for cash, got another £100 off!! so you just never know how low they will go
