Can i get Phone Contract after being declared bankrupt ?

Hi guys i went bankrupt back in june and im now much more happier in myself and sorting my money out etc everything went well. I now live away from parents and was thinking of applying for a mobile phone contract so i can keep in touch with them on a regular basis but im wondering if i am allowed to do this whilst being bankrupt ? I dare not do it until i know if it is ok or against the law. thanks

There is nothing stopping you applying for a phone contract - being accepted is another thing altogether. I think there are some that will accept you for a monthly rolling contract but not sure who does these.

Yep.....bankruptcy is the hardest dent in your credit rating for 6yrs (not many will touch a bankrupt or indeed a discharged BR for 6yrs)

  • What if you already have a contract? Can you just keep paying it as if nothing has happened?
  • I've carried on with my Vodafone contract and even upgraded my broadband modem since BK date, so yes you can keep your contract.
