As ever, 'you pays your money, you takes your choice'. I have certainly learned that it's worth checking the cost per kg before buying and it's honed my mental maths no end!!0

In a shop this would entail checking every single shelf a certain type of food is displayed (for example pizza: frozen, fresh, offers, end of isle etc etc).
Let's not forget it's not just the price, we also need to check ingredients in detail as the packaging is designed to trick you (according to a recent TV programme about cereals, Horizons).
Unfortunately some people just don't have time, you can imagine if you have a big family the amount of shopping you have to do, and probably with demanding children with you as well....
I totally believe in people taking responsibility for their actions, including purchases, but when this is made impossible to achieve by the average family, then there is something wrong!
I have a big family and check the prices carefully to find the bargains -many a time I put one item back when I find another further down the aisle. Having said that, I don't always go for the cheapest anyway.
My biggest smile was watching everyone pick the 2 for £2 fairy liquid - they were going for the various aromas - I went for the plain one as it had 50% extra free as well :j(yes it did qualify and I checked the receipt too).0 -
I just want to know what a 4p jar of curry sauce tastes like.
On second thoughts......."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".

Young's Basa Fillet's [which are delicious btw]
1 pack for 2 quid, 2 for 5

Spotted in Sainsburys today:
1kg bag wholewheat fusili pasta - £1.45
500g bag " " " - 70p (i.e. £1.40 / kg)
Not a huge difference, but as it's easier to carry 500g bags I wish I'd spotted this sooner!0 -
Noticed in Asda recently, a regular 250ml can of Blue Charge is 34p.
They have started doing a 440ml can, yours for 70p
Save 2p and gain 60ml by purchasing two of the smaller cans.
Incidentally, the Emerge energy drink they used to sell for 20-22p has gone up to 33p!0 -

Incidentally, have you noticed how this policy increases packaging? Not only it's bad for our pockets, it's also bad for the environment!
So you either do the right thing for your finances, or the right thing for the environment.
You see it's a lose:lose situation for us!0 -

I hope you go and put it back in its original spot so that some unfortunate shopper does not pick it up by mistake and is charged the higher price. The only thing that is constant is change.0
