Kitchen sink alternatives....

Following on from a previous thread

I think we've decided on the Franke VBK 110 33.

I was wondering if there were any similar alternatives to look at. The constraints are undermounted (not stainless steel preferably in white so ceramic or composite) and it has to fit on a 500mm cabinet. The worktop is star galaxy granite.

We have discounted Fiji Carron 90 and the astracast vero medium. The Fiji is too square and the Astracast is a bit too expensive.

Help please :)

    Sorry, shameless bump :)
  • I suggest you look online. There are plenty of options that you can choose from discount sites. You can even compare sink material and prices.

from your previous post i see you're having granite worktop which is fantastic durable choice. I cant really understand why would anyone want to go for ceramic snk that will damage easily, you really want to be as care free as possible..
besides, granite and undermount ssteel in marriage made in heaven

Sorry to dig up and old post, but this quite relevant to me at the moment, since I am looking at a ceramic (astracast sink) and granite top. Does ceramic really damage that easily? Thinking about it - if it did break and it was undermounted under granite how on earth would you be able to fix it? Would they have to redo all the granite?

The most practical of all is a regular overmount.

Yeah yeah it sounds horrendous on granite, but take a look at some of the nice contemporary numbers on the Franke website. Particularly a black sink with black granite.

Stainless steel undermount sinks in granite with drainer grooves look fantastic.....but just aren't as practical as a regular sink.....unless you have ausnked milled drainer area in the granite (big bucks).

I have a lot of customers that fit out the main kitchen with an undermount sink then have the utility room fitted with a regular sink so the dont mess up the nice one in the kitchen.....go figure!

With black granite, something like this looks fantastic:-

we had granite (star galaxy) with an undermount Lincoln astracast 4040. The sinks is supported by a frame under the base cabinet (I had a thread earlier in the week describing it :rotfl:) and then silicone glued to the worktop. we were given clips to mount sink to worktop but I was outvoted by the men and they didn't get used.

I don't expect the ceramic to be damaged (it weighs enough to last a good few knocks). If it does, the ceramic was OH's choice and not my fault! :rotfl:

I can post some pictures if you'd like, but it'll be a day or two
