Has My Car Been Clocked?

It's MOT time again :(

While checking out the current cert I noticed I could check the history online.
(http://www.motinfo.gov.uk if anyone is interested) Can anyone tell me a legit reason for the discrepancy in odometer readings?

Thanks
Billy

not a renault scenic by any chance...reports of dash failures on bbc watchdog, could be a replacement dash or a botched repair?

Isn't the Scenic digital? I thought the ECU would store the milage.

It could be legitimate although the fact the MOT which shows it is a dealer one suggests clocking.

Did you not check this prior to buying?

Is it normal that the car have an MOT and failed and then 9 days later had a second MOT and the car had done exactly the same amount of miles?
I would have thought that it would have increased by at least one mile in 9 days even if it had only been in a garage having work done to it

I wouldnt say this is abnormal.

In all likiehood a 2nd MOT was never done and they simply fixed the failures and issued the certificate.
  • If the garage retained posession of the car I can understand them not rechecking the milage for the second test.

    Yes it's a scenic on a T reg.

If it's hooked up to a computer would it show the correct mileage.

It only cost £200 with 6 months MOT so I took a chance.

Thing is the speedo has never worked properly. (I use a Sat Nav as backup) so odometer is off a bit anyway.
  • For £200, I wouldn't worry about the mileage. Just drive it til it drives no more.
