The Mermaid Inn, on Mermaid Street in Rye, Sussex, is often called the 'most haunted pub in England'. And we're giving you the chance to win a night for two with our Halloween-inspired competition, Scary Spuds!

How to Enter

Every Halloween, people are seized by the feverish need to carve pumpkins. But at Walkers, we've got potatoes on the brain so we'd like you to scare us with your spooky spuds instead!

Just grab a spud, carve it up (careful - no dismembered fingers please - though that would be scary!), add some ghoulish garb, or monstrous make-up to turn it into a hideous horror! Then upload a photo of it onto our website by November 18th. If yours is the winner, we'll let you know by phone.

1. The prize draw is open to residents of the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man aged 16 years or over, who have opted-in to receive emails from Walkers Snacks Limited (the "Promoter"), excluding employees and their immediate families of the Promoter, its affiliated companies, their agents or other persons professionally associated with the promotion.
2. By taking part in this prize draw all participants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these terms and conditions.
3. All entries must be submitted online at www.walkers.co.uk/quiz/mermaidQuiz.aspx.
4. No purchase necessary.
5. The opening date for receipt of entries is the 19th October 2009 and the closing date for receipt of entries is the 18th November 2009.
6. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify incomplete, altered or illegible entries. No responsibility will be accepted for entries lost, damaged or delayed. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt. No responsibility will be taken for telecommunication or website error.
7. Only one entry per person. No bulk, consumer group or third party entries will be accepted. Entries will only be allowed in accordance with these terms and conditions. Any attempted interference with the running of this promotion will result in a void entry.
8. The winner will be the person whose entry is the most creative, humorous and original Halloween potato. The winner will be selected by an independent judge on 24th November 2009. The winner will be notified by telephone by no later than 25th November 2009. The prize must be claimed by 2nd December 2009. All reasonable effort will be made to contact the winner; however, if the prize is not claimed by 2nd December 2009 an alternative winner will be selected.
9. The prize to be won is: A voucher for one nights' dinner (drinks not included,) bed and breakfast accommodation in your choice of 'historical character' (best quality) double or twin room for two people at The Mermaid Inn, Rye, East Sussex.
10. Travel to and from The Mermaid Inn and spending money is not included. The date of the break can be any date throughout the year, subject to availability and except between 23rd December 2009 to 2nd January 2010. The prize voucher is valid until 25th November 2010.
11. The Promoter will have no liability in relation to the conduct of the prize winner, nor in connection with any circumstances beyond its control with respect to the prize once delivered to the prize winner.
12. The prize voucher will be sent to the winner's designated address by recorded delivery by no later than 9th December 2009. By accepting the prize, the winner agrees to take full responsibility for ensuring that they or their nominee are entitled to take the prize.
13. The prize is non-transferable, non refundable and can not be exchanged for any cash alternatives in whole or in part. The decisions of the Promoter are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
14. The Promoter reserves the right to provide an alternative prize of equal or greater value in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
15. By accepting a prize, Prize winners accept they may be requested to participate in related publicity.

17. Any personal data relating to participants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will only be used for the purposes of this Promotion and not be disclosed without the individual's prior consent.
