Airline tickets - posted or can be picked up at airport?

^^Thanks for that. So, I will bring with me the printed out airline ticket and relevant debit card; that should be sufficient?? I plan on being there for approx. two weeks.

ok, in that case you definitely need to stay close to action .. you are lucky as SF is perhaps one of only a handful of US large cities where you could rely on public transport to get you about. Don't count on walking as believe me it is even worse than the pictures you see. Driving a car sometimes I felt I was on a rollercoaster! Look into buying the local equivalent of a daily/weekly travelcard. Also check http://www.tripadvisor.com/ for hotel reviews and things to do and see.

Above all enjoy the trip. SF is beautiful.
