so do you cover the pasta with the boiling water and then put lid on or use it like a steamer?

  • Yep, you cover it in boiling water, put the lid on and leave for required time, hey presto, perfectly cooked pasta;)

I cook my pasta in a normal saucepan with a good fitting lid using the thermal pot method and it works everytime, just add 3mins or so to the recommended cooking time. I bring the water up to the boil on the stove, add pasta, oil and salt, wait for it to come back up to a rolling boil, lid on, off the stove and let it stand. sometimes I do a very quick stir in between, but usually I just leave it.

try it, might work for spag, though I've never tried it, usually just shaped pasta. probably need to snap the spag in half first to fit? hope this is helpful

well i tried this method last nigh. i boiled the water, add the spagehti, brough back up to boil. then turned heat off put lid on and left it for about 5 min's. WOW perfect pasta. no more boiling over pan. hubby said it was perfect. i will def be using this method again. sometimes i've found spag can turn very quickly from being cooked to over cooked . no any more.

thanks to this thread i've discovered another new cooking technique.
