I got a TENS machine from boots, and it is great for back pain.
Mine cost about £40 and has been worth every penny.“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -

Sounds worth a try.
Can you wear it driving?
Could you put it on & go off to work wearing it?
Would the pulses be distracting?0 -
we aren't supposed really to offer medical advice on the forum but I second what the others have said re the TENS machine. My DH swears by his and he has several prolapsed discs in his spine.Do what you love :happyhear0

To be completley honest, after spending my whole life with troubles with my back, the car seat is the perfect place - it sculpes round your back perfectly0

Its not really medical advice anyway is it, its not medicine. Its more coping with pain.
Thank you0 -

But you can wear the pads on your back & sit in the car?
I wondered it would squash them:o0 -

Your not supposed to wear it while driving, but you can, and its quite comfortable.
I keep mine in the car so that if I am a long way from home and my back hurts, then it allows me to drive home relatively pain free. ( I drive hundreds of miles a week).“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -

ETA, they don't do ones that work from car cigarette lighter sockets do they?0 -
Hi,
I have degenerative discs, as does OH (what a pair) and we both swear by ours. I keep mine in my handbag at all times, its the size of a small matchbox. The pads can't be squished, they're millimeters thick with a sort of sticky gel on the skin side.
Mine runs on large watch batteries, and I get a lot of time from them.
There's next to nothing you can't do with it on, just keep moving the pads from time to time (it irritates my skin after a long time)
You can get ones with dual ports, so there are 4 pads instead of two, and each set of two pads can be set independantly.
A real godsend.
