Help! Daughter wants Hercules bedroom...

Hi,

I don't know if anyone cd help me out and post any decorating tips. My 3 yr old wants a Hercules bedroom and I can't afford all the stickers and borders and things (and don't think Hercules ones exist anyway).

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi. I don't know how artistic you are but a friend of mine painted her son's room when he wanted a Nemo room. Walls were painted blue with 1 main wall painted a couple of shades of blue (the original blue with added white) and kind of run into each to make a sea effect. She used tracing paper to trace large images of the main characters and then painted them with a mix of tester pots and normal poster paint. She added in seaweed etc. She had some plain curtain that she painted some fish on the bottom with fabric paint - got him reversable duvet in blue and green and a cushion from disney. It looked fab and didn't cost much in comparison to buying all branded stuff. Another friend used an overhead projector to enlarge an image to trace on to a wall - any chance you could borrow one. If you get the stickarounds and then paint the room in the matching colours - they often have them on Ebay. I'm not sure who hercules is - is he new or been about for a bit? if he's been about a bit - they'll have merchandise - if he's new they'll be merchandise along soon and then on ebay.

Could you maybe just get her a hercules bed spread and then paint the walls with a bit of a Greek theme? Maybe a mural of some collonades?
also, they sell disney stencil kits on ebay. One of them at the moment listsHercules. Not sure if I'm alloed to post a link, so just search for disney stencil kit. If you could get it for a tenner it might save you a lot of messing about!!

You could ask at your daughter's play school/nursery (I'm assuming at 3 she goes to some kind of play group) if they have an overhead projector. These are really useful when decorating. Simply draw an outline picture on some clear plastic (documanet folder or acetate) and project it onto the walls to give you a fool proof way of tracing your desired picture onto the walls.

Annie H you beat me to it. When I read the title of this thread I was wondering what Hercules would have to say about your daughter taking his bedroom ! Sorry being flippant - too much bank holiday spirit.

Well as long as she doesn't want a Hercules aircraft then you should be ok.

maybe an airfix scale model would be alright....might look pretty big to a 3 year old?

the projector idea is fantastic...requires some work so be prepared to change the room next year to something else!
