can anyone advise me about ferry pricing please?

Hi i am thinking about trying to take my kids away next year and think i might go for a siblu holiday but i am confused about ferry prices, i know i can phone them up tomoro but am just too impatient!!! in the back it says for brittany ferries "single supplements car and up to 5 passengers extra passengers + £15 under 4's go free" so does this mean that the proce uner the ferry crossing i want is for example £144 + £15 for me and 5 children plus £0 for the little one? sorry if i appear a bit thick just as will obviously be on such a tight budget still i want to be aware of all costs b4 agreeing to anything!
and also on some of them they have prices for accomodation but others dont so does that mean on the ones that dont have accomodation on them we can just walk around and sit in seats??

  • The supplement is for the car inc 5 pax, any people over the 5 will be an extra £15.

Check out Canvas, Keycamp, and Eurocamp too :)

  • Hi Cloverfan, have you had this answered yet? The prices are based on 5 passengers. If your sixth passenger is a child under 4, they go free too (so the total price will be £144 each way). If the sixth passenger is over 4, you will pay an extra £15 each way.

just wanting to kee an eye on this one, as we did the Plymouth - Roscoff ferry this yr. And are thinking of doing it again next as we really liked the site in nearby Carrantec. Meant the long drive was in the UK and done early hours of Sunday morning, so was nice and easy!!!

Cloverfan can't help with the costings, but when we booked via Keycamp this yr, we found it cheaper to accept a £50 discount on the holiday and book ferry ourselves (Plymouth - oscoff really expensive route) But by doing it ourselves we saved cos the supplements for when we travelled were more than buying direct.... hope that makes sense
  • Something we tend to do is go from Dover to Calais or Dunkerque for pretty much anywhere in France. We found that if we want the west or south west of France, the ferries to Britanny may be closer, but the roads to the motorway network can mean a more difficult drive. OK if you want scenery, but not if you just want to get there. We found we could get there just as quick from Calais as we could from the Brittany ports but for a cheaper crossing.

Also, we've found that the Dover-Calais ferries are more flexible if you arrive late or early. Officially, it's a change to your crossing and they can charge, but sometimes, if the ferry is fairly lightly loaded, they'll just put you on the next one with no charges added.

I know there have been additional motorways built in that area so I may be a little out of date. But I look at the roads each time I book a ferry, and so far the above works for us quite well.

    Cheers,

    Schneckster
