Hi cityslicker,
You’ve definitely done the right thing by highlighting this with E.ON.
I know the Directors’ Office is on schedule to respond to complaints well within their allowed time frames so I’d expect you to have a response sooner rather than later.
If you haven’t been contacted in the next couple of days, give me a shout and I’ll chase it for you.
Thanks for this.
Brian“Official Company Representative
I am an official company representative of E.ON. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -
Yep the underhand sales tactics continue, scottish power tried to tell me the other day that they would be cheaper with a non-E7 dual fuel tarriff - despite me telling them that we don't have a gas supply to the house and the E7 is necessary for our storage heaters and immersion. Doh!0

NEVER buy anything at the door or on the street.
Just tell them you are a Mormon !0 -
I've an update. The Executive Office has been in touch to say the response (detailed in post 5, above) did not answer my points satisfactorily. In fact the email was quite apologetic, and they have asked me to telephone to explain which Tesco it was (I did say in my first email, the Executive Office obviously didn't see that so I will call them tomorrow).
In the meantime, Martin's sent me a PM to say he has had a few of these reports, and in short I don't think he is pleased at all. Quite right too in my opinion, he's built up a good reputation, these cowboys cannot be allowed to take that off him.0 -
No one has ever tried to sell me gas or electricity in Waitrose!0

A couple of weeks ago i was in tescos and i saw a couple switching and i told them if they goto yahoo and search cashback sites and switch they would get £50 and that sales man would get nothing.
The sales man was not happy but then the couple said thanks and said we do it online. i am with EON but they methods they use to lie is crazy!0 -
Oh you will all love this. Tesco says -
While I am not an expert on these matters it appears to me that all the supply companies make claims which I am sure if scrutinised would prove to be a little misleading.
I've sent an email back to Tesco saying this response is unacceptable. I know some players in the marketplace are less than ethical, but Tesco and Eon's position to date leaves me astounded how blatant they are, and how little either of them cared when I complained.0 -

Tescos could be talking about some of their own claims / business practices...lol0 -
Massive change in tact from both Eon and Tesco.
After reaching their executive teams, both groups are now highly apologetic. Both acknowledge the initial responses I obtained were inappropriate and worded poorly.
More importantly, both groups have worked to identify the tactics used by the rep in question and will be stopping the practice. Also it was identified no sales rep in any Tesco store should be approaching customers. Instead they should only discuss matters with customers if the customer approaches them (I am guessing the manner which Saturday's Eon rep stood perilously close to the exit would be used in his view everyone was approaching him - this also explains why the RAC rep in the same store has never approached me in all the years he has been there).
The staff who sent me the replies I have given examples of in this thread have been identified and their managers have been notified of how to deal with customers more appropriately.
I feel a little bad that people have got in trouble for this matter, but I am trying to remember I am sticking up for the majority of people who should not have to put up with this sort of activity.0 -
After seeing Watchdog tonight, detailing shady practices the suppliers use in supermarkets, all of a sudden I don't feel bad at all after reporting this. Did anyone else see it?0
