How do I cancel Tiscali Talk & Broadband

I've currently got line rental via BT and calls and broadband via Tiscali, I've had this arrangement for just over 18 months.
I’m moving house and have decided to take my number with me, so I’ve arranged this via BT and for them to also provide my calls and broadband too.
I called Tiscali a while ago to check the cancelation procedure and I was told that Broadband is done immediately and would be off within 24 hours and for calls they couldn’t cancel them only when I shifted to a new supplier would it become cancelled?
I’m confused by this, I want to keep my broadband up to move day and don’t want to incur loads of charges.
Can anybody explain what I’m supposed to do with Tiscali to cancel?
