'Dynamic' Online Presentation Software

Options
Hi there

I wonder whether any of you have come across good, user-friendly, reasonably priced software where you can easily create a moving/dynamic presentation of a website and slides either to be hosted on a website, or written to a DVD/CD-Rom for playback.

Help much appreciated.

Thanks

If you are just wantinga presentation you could use Windows Movie Maker I suppose just do a lot of print screen images of the website then make a film and that could be used.

Or MS Powerpoint, I wonder if OpenOffice has the same.

If you want to do a simple slideshow to put on a website and burn to disk you could do it as a swf file (flash player) and use some easy flash creator software like swish to create it

    Thanks Tom :-)

There is a program called "proshow gold" by a company called photodex that should do exactly what you want. Just google it to find the website, there's plenty of info there.

I've got PowerPoint amongst others, but I need something more dynamic than a mere slide show... it has to give the impression that a website is being used, and then highlight points on a website... and also have a verbal commentary...

Then as mentioned earlier I would go with Flash.

OpenOffice (and StarOffice its commercial sister product which I use) can export slides in Macromedia Flash (SWF) format. You can also export a presentation in HTML format thus building up a set of linked HTML pages each one containing a slide from the presentation. I use both quite often.

i would go with macromedia flash. Powerpoint looks very amature. I design animations for advertising in flash and some clients send me their versions in powerpoint for me to improve...which isnt hard!

Ive designed whole websites in flash, its a great program. You can write actionscripts to control movies etc.

Swish max is for pc and is a very basic version of flash but its a lot easier.

  • I might be tempted to use Flash for presentations, but using it for websites? Only if my clients want to put aesthetics above everything else... which they don't.

Search engines can't read it, you can't content manage it property, you have to fiddle around to get internal links going, back and forward browser buttons don't 'work', you can't deep link... the list goes on...

However for pure aesthetics and visual appeal... like a sales demo... it just might work. Might trial it out.

One to consider is a freeware package called WINK you download it from here

It takes about 20 minutes to learn and we have used it to produce some great online presentations and tutorials. I now consider myself to be a professional 'winker'.
