I clearly misread the original post. I thought he was asking for advice on financing a purchase, not on what sort of TV he should buy.

The TV itself is worth £750 and will be used in conjunction with our PS3, satellite, dvd player etc (HD) hence the price which reflected on the quality/built.

No one "needs" a TV. Especially not a £1000 one, when you can buy them as cheap as £200.

Nobody needs a Porsche when they can buy a Daewoo.

I am a home cinema / TV fan so have a nice TV. I don't NEED it, but who's to say I shouldn't have it!?

There is nothing wrong with using a credit card or finance to purchase an item if you can afford to repay. It's a personal choice.

The OP clearly can't afford it.

Hence the option of finance which is why it is made avaliable to the public.
If that wasn't the case, there would be banned items list on what you could get finance on.

I cannot afford it at present as we are purchasing other items for the house as well.
In 2 months time I can pay it off.
The op is stating a question based on finance and not if I can afford it or not.
