When should I buy my dollars

Ok I know that without a crystal ball this question is a bit silly but...
Im going to New york in april 2010 for a holiday. When should I buy my dollars? Leave it for a while and see what happens with the pound? buy it now before the pund weakens further? Whats your thoughts...

    Thanks for your helpfull comments. I was under the impression that this forum might have a collective of people who could offer thoughts and opinions on the matter.
    Guess I forgot that its just the internet and therefor full of know it all !!!!!!s.

    Klunky - we bought ours in advance of our trip, for 1.65 for the pound.

    That was with crown currency exchange.

    Keep an eye on the rate, decide what rate you'd be happy to accept, and then buy at that price and stop looking.

    None of us have crystal balls, but there has been only one relatively short period in the past years when you could have got $2 per pound. Forget that and look at what you'd be happy with paying.

    Also, consider applying now for post office credit card or Nationwide flex account to make the most of your plastic to get transactions at business rate without a foreign transaction fee.;)

    Just because people were less than courteous to you doesn't mean you should stoop that low on your 12th post.;) Learn to ignore the wind up merchants or deal with them with a sense of humour and you'll gain a lot more from MSE.:money:
