• Hi, I'm looking to take m DS skiing this season, not decided where yet, but wondered if we could both go to the same ski school or do the schools tend to be for children and adults seperately?
• I wander why people say that france is not for kids( family), that`s where I wanted to go. Any reason? Are the splopes too much for kids?

Does anyone know of a Ski School where my daughter can go (aged 5) where basically i drop her off in the morning and the pick her up later in the day? Im not bothered where in Europe it is, but i would ideally like somewhere where accomodation/equipment rental and lessons are all included and bookable online.
Kenny,
A specialist tour op might be worth considering. Ski Esprit have good child care facilities and will do just what you are asking. I've been with them twice now and suggest looking at La Rosiere in France where the chalets are close to the slopes; handy for popping back at lunchtime if need be.

MOTK - ski schools tend to be based on ability and age in most resorts. Younger children (under 10) will normally be in a separate class to adults and TBH it allows the parent to ski without worrying about their child (too much). For a first ski holiday I'd suggest Austria (see my post above)

Ilovecubbage - Unless you are a reasonable skier many French resorts are too large and expensive so not good value for money IMO as you can't make full use of the ski pass. They will fulfill your requirement but at a price. They can also be without atmosphere as the French go back to their appartments at night and stay there. Have a look at La Rosiere and La Clusaz which are smaller

I suppose it depends on your experience.

I’ve been snowboarding in France for the past 10 ish years and love it out there and have met many families of various abilities who have all seemed to enjoy there trip. We’ve been using the same travel agent year on year who has skied all over the world. Her advise when we started out was to avoid small resort with limited terrain as we would not improve the same way you do on a bigger, more varied mountain (not necessarily a massive tri-area type place, but something with plenty of varied runs). That said, we were both fit, active and liked a challenge and wanted to learn and improve (We also invested in lessons which pushed us on). This may sound daft, but some people like to take it easy, try out skiing / boarding for a few days and relax in the resort for a day or so.

There are so many resorts in Europe of all shapes and sizes that it really depends on what you want from your holiday – once you have that down, it doesn’t hurt to speak to a ski travel agent about resort options. You don’t have to book with them, but they should know the resorts and available facilities. If you do head to France just check for French holidays as I hear the slopes get unbearably busy.

Hope you find something suitable.
